This little town can be found at the foot of Sassolungo and reached by travelling up the Fassa Valley after Mazzin. The Ruf de Duròn brook runs through the town and the namesake valley through which it passes has been nicknamed 'Strada del pane e del vino' (the road of bread and wine). Traders used to come here en route to Siusi.

Campitello boasts one of the most famous panoramas of the Dolomites, which can be admired from Col Rodella: Marmolada, the Crepa Neigra and the Sass da Rocca; Catinaccio to the West, Sella to the North-East and the Sassolungo to the North-West.

In Campitello di Fassa, the buildings tell its history, from the old town to the small district of Pian, located on high ground in an amazing setting.

This area is an important alpine centre, where the seat of the famous alpine guides of Fassa can be found: 'I ciamorces de Fascia'. The famous mountaineer Tita Piaz was even a member.

Campitello di Fassa is a famous tourist resort both in Summer and Winter. From here runs the Col Rodella cableway, the departure point for numerous walks and excursions, also for those with skis, towards the Sciliar plateau, the Sassolungo Group and the Sasso Piatto. The ski slopes can also be reached from here, taking us towards the Gardena Valley and the Sella Ronda. The Duron Valley is well known, not just for its beautiful excursions, but also for sledging in Winter. The walk along the Avisio river is both enjoyable and easy, taking visitors to Canazei or down to Soraga.

Today, Campitello di Fassa is a very famous destination for paragliding and hand-gliding lovers. Moreover, there is a new sports centre equipped with basket ball, five-a-side and tennis courts, an inline hockey rink and a climbing wall. A golf course has also been recently built.
